Sprout Social is looking to hire a Manager, Performance Analytics to the Data team.

What you’ll do
  • Develop, coach, and lead a team of analysts focused on developing company performance metrics, KPIs, and associated analyses.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and refine our performance measurement strategy. This includes developing key performance indicators (KPIs), driving data-driven insights, and enhancing our understanding of our business performance.
  • Deliver actionable insights that will directly impact our business strategy.
What you’ll bring
Your mission as a Manager, Performance Analytics is to help drive forward Sprout’s business by ensuring that our initiatives are data-informed and analytically rigorous. You’ll bring a passion for developing and leading a team of analysts. You’ll also bring your advanced SQL skills, experience designing insightful data visualizations, and interest in learning the unique business problems our stakeholders are trying to solve. You and your team will analyze business performance and develop KPIs, metrics, and dashboards to help us understand trends and triage business performance issues.
If you are someone with a passion for developing people, understanding data through analysis and visualization, has strong data fluency, a drive to improve your skill set and knowledge base continuously, and are passionate about partnering with other parts of the business to provide novel insights and improve decisions, we’d love to talk to you!
The minimum qualifications for this role include:
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience developing and validating SQL queries to support analyses, reporting, and dashboards.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience coaching, developing, and leading other analysts
  • Previous experience in an analytical role developing a KPI and Metrics strategy along with a corresponding framework
  • Proficiency and applied experience in data visualization software such as Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, or another data visualization tool.
Preferred qualifications for this role include:
  • Experience working for a business-to-business software as a service (SaaS) company.
  • Partnered directly with stakeholders to define requirements, validate results, and present findings/deliverables.
How you’ll grow
Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:
  • Experience Sprout’s in-depth onboarding, covering everything from our company mission and values, hearing directly from executives and founders, and deep training on our products and the value Sprout delivers to our customers.
  • Make a plan with your manager to set initial priorities, align on expectations for your role, plant goalposts for your career, and learn about Sprout’s approach to analytics.
  • Begin developing familiarity with our business, applications, data, and our company’s existing key metrics.
  • Write SQL queries to fetch data from our Redshift database.
  • Begin generating initial insights from available data to identify quick-win opportunities for improvement.
  • Document your work -- What question(s) was it trying to answer? What time range did it look at? What assumptions were made?
  • Initiate meetings with key stakeholders to understand their expectations and gather input on analytics priorities.
  • Participate in team meetings and join a Business Analytics Office Hours session.
Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:
  • Begin mentoring and guiding your team, setting clear expectations and goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify and define KPIs that align with business objectives.
  • Foster collaboration with product, engineering, design, and revenue teams, establishing regular communication channels for sharing insights and updates.
  • Assess the existing analytics framework, tools, and processes.
  • Propose a KPI and metrics strategy and develop a corresponding framework to shape Sprout’s future KPI and metrics strategy.
  • Implement initial improvements to the performance reporting process for more streamlined and accurate results.
  • Complete any necessary training on Tableau and utilize it to build and maintain dashboards for driving awareness and understanding of key business and product metrics.
  • Become familiar with our GitHub repositories and code deployment process and submit a few changes to our code base.
  • Support various teams with ad-hoc analyses that transform raw data into meaningful and impactful insights.
  • Dig into the questions our business partners are asking, suggest appropriate metrics, and develop a plan to analyze the data.
  • Identify data issues and drive improvements in data hygiene.
  • Participate in our team’s quarterly roadmap planning and project scoping sessions.
Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:
  • Have your first performance conversation with your manager, where you’ll discuss your accomplishments in your role and work together to build goals for your professional growth.
  • Implement improved reporting and data visualization practices for better cross-functional understanding.
  • Implement advanced analytics techniques to uncover deeper insights and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with internal teams to define goals and identify actionable metrics to understand company performance and engrain those metrics into teams’ day-to-day work.
  • Contribute strategic insights to guide the overall business strategy based on comprehensive performance data analysis.
  • Present your analyses and insights to all company levels clearly and concisely.
Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:
  • Act as a strategic partner to business leaders, actively influencing our business performance measurement through data-driven insights.
  • ​​Deliver regular executive-level reports summarizing key findings, trends, and their impact on the business.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the company's data strategy.
  • Oversee the successful completion of annual performance reviews for the product analytics team members, providing constructive feedback, setting performance goals, and identifying opportunities for career growth and skill development.
  • Assess the need for additional talent within the product analytics team and participate in recruitment efforts.
Of course, what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs, and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.

Whenever possible, Sprout wants to provide our team with the flexibility to work in the location that makes the most sense for them. Sprout maintains a remote workforce in many places in the United States. If your position requires a physical presence in a Sprout office, it will be evident in the job listing and your offer letter.
The base pay range for this role is 166,000 USD annually. Individual base pay is based on various factors, including relevant experience and skills, the responsibility of the role, and job duties/requirements. In addition to base pay, some Sales and Success roles can earn sales incentives.
Sprout’s compensation ranges are intentionally broad to allow for our team members' growth within their role. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable, consistent and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually, identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.
Base pay is only one element of an employee's total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprout’s equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, and Modern Health (a wellness benefit). Employees are able to enroll in Sprout’s company’s 401k plan, in which Sprout will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% with a maximum contribution. Sprout offers “Flexible Paid Time Off” and ten paid holidays.
