The Team
Upstart’s FP&A team plays an integral role in the company’s business and financial planning process. We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Senior Financial Analyst to support our Emerging Products organization—one of the most dynamic and fast-evolving areas of our business.
As a Senior Financial Analyst at Upstart, you will drive and support all aspects of FP&A which includes in-depth financial and business planning, collaborating with business leaders across the company, and driving analyses for business and strategic cases. Through your efforts, we’ll be able to ensure the Upstart leadership team stays on top of our financial performance and risks. Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote
Time Zone Requirements - This team operates on the East/West Coast time zones.
Travel Requirements - As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Act as the finance partner to emerging product teams, leading forecasting, planning, and opex support
- Own the full P&L for emerging products, driving transparency across revenue, margin, and expenses
- Manage opex budgets in partnership with department leads, ensuring alignment and financial discipline
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning across product, operations, and marketing
- Conduct financial analysis for new products and develop key metric reporting
- Build dashboards and reports using tools like Looker and Mode in partnership with Analytics to monitor trends and surface insights
- Support month- and quarter-end close in partnership with Accounting, analyzing variances and presenting results
- Deliver executive summaries and monthly budget analysis to vertical and functional leadership
- Contribute to corporate deliverables including earnings prep and business reviews
What we’re looking for:
- BS/MS Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant FP&A experiences
- Highly competent in Excel and/or Google Sheets: excellent financial modeling skills and ability to perform complex analyses with big data sets required
- Excellent presentation skills and comfort in communicating with multiple levels of leadership
- Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
- Organized and proven ability to juggle multiple tasks while still meeting deadline
- Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with financial planning software such as Adaptive, Anaplan, or Hyperion
- Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau or Mode
- Experience with advanced data analytics tools such as SQL, Python or R
- Previous consumer marketplace lending industry experience
At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location–with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
